Recall your Victories

Small private victories always preceed significant public victories. When confronted with Goliath, David recalled how he had fought against the lion and the bear while looking after his father’s sheep.

You might never have encountered the current challenge which is confronting you, but you have faced and overcome similar, albeit smaller, challenges in the past.

In the battlefield of faith no victory is wasted. You are so much more prepared than you realise.  Draw on the memories of your previous victories as you face today‘s giant. Find confidence from your former successes.  You have been through a lot, you have faced fear, you have fought many battles, struggled against much adversity - and you’re still standing!

The same God who helped you then will help you today. He fights for you. In His power, you have what it takes - so use what you have and trust Him to give you what you need.

You defeated the lion and the bear, now get out there and defeat this giant!

1 Samuel 17:32-37

“David said to Saul, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.” Saul replied, “You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth.” But David said to Saul, “Your servant has been keeping his father's sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. The LORD who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” Saul said to David, “Go, and the LORD be with you.”
