ON FIRE 26 / THE DIFFERENCE

BIBLE READING

Acts 4: 13

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realised that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

Matthew 6: 6

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

REFLECTION

The religious leaders are looking at Peter and John and thinking: 'How are they so bold and courageous, so firm in what they believe about this Jesus?  It’s not like they have degrees and PHDs in religion, they’re not rich or famous, they aren’t powerful or important by the world’s standards.  They’re ‘unschooled, ordinary men”'

They’re nobodies.  Just like you and me.

So what’s the difference that makes the difference in their lives – what is the most important thing they know about Peter and John?

“....they took note that these men had been with Jesus.”

If you want to live an on fire, bold, courageous life – the most important thing you can do is make sure you take time to be with Jesus.

I know I sound like a broken record, but time in prayer, in His word, in worship, in seeking Him on your own at home and here in church – that is the one thing that will make the greatest difference in your life.

Time with Jesus changes your life more than all the education and degrees and knowledge ever could.
