Presence Not Position

David always cared more about presence than position. In 2 Samuel 6 he has just been made king over Israel, a position he was anointed for many years before.Back then he was just a shepherd boy worshiping God in obscurity. Now that he’s finally in Jerusalem as King his first response is to call for the Ark of the Covenant to be brought to the city. The Ark represented the tangible, manifest presence of God among His people.

Many people start out longing for His presence but once they are promoted they get more focused on maintaining their position and growing their platform than prioritizing His presence.  However, without His presence the position becomes unsustainable and the platform ineffective.  It becomes dependent on charisma and technique rather than the anointing, favor and blessing of the Lord.

If you seek first His presence, everything else that comes with it is fruitful and satisfying.  If you seek position, you’ll end up frustrated and exhausted.
