The Great Exchange

When Jesus touched the leper in Mark 1, He should have been made unclean by the man's contagious condition. However, instead the man got Jesus' complete cleansing. Grace is more contagious than any sickness, sin, affliction or issue. When Jesus touches us, no matter what we've done, we are made fully clean, pure, righteous and holy. His grace is stronger than any sin!

Then we read at the end of the story that, because the man told everyone, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places." At the start the leper was isolated and lonely because of his disease.

Now Jesus has exchanged places.

Jesus didn't only forgive your sin, He took your place. He didn't just die FOR me - He died AS me. He became my darkest sin that I might become His perfect righteousness.

What an incredible exchange!

Mark 1:40-45

”A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus was indignant. He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed. Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: “See that you don't tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.”

2 Corinthians 5:21

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
