Strength in the Stretch

In Mark 3, Jesus publicly asked the man with the withered hand to stretch it forth. He had to be willing to reach forward and reveal the one place in of his life where he felt most weak, insecure and vulnerable. As he obeyed and stretched himself, he received his miracle and complete restoration.

In the same way God is calling us to stretch ourselves in some areas where we currently feel completely inadequate and insecure.  He’s asking us to be vulnerable, to show our weaknesses, to push through our feelings of inferiority.  We have become comfortable in obscurity but God is asking us to step out of hiding.  We have been excluding and excusing ourselves from fully engaging in His call because of our apparent deficiencies and defects.  They are no longer going to define us or determine our impact.

The man's restoration was not found by looking back to the past, but by reaching forward into the future. Be willing to stretch yourself in this season, come out of hiding.  Even if it is uncomfortable and you feel vulnerable and insecure. Push on through. Stop looking back. Reach forward for your miracle. In your stretching will be your new-found strength.

Mark 3:1-5

“Jesus went into the synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there...Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.”...He...said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored.”
