What Heaven Cheers, Hell Fears

The enemy will always prioritize his attack in the place of your greatest effectiveness or in the area which makes you most powerful for the Kingdom.  David is described by God as “a man after my own heart.”  Yet when David steps up to fight Goliath, what is the thing his brother attacks? His heart. He tells David that his heart is “conceited and wicked”.

The thing about you that God loves most is the very thing that the enemy hates most.  The qualities in you that Heaven cheers are the same qualities that all of hell fears. What is it about you that makes you unique, effective, impactful?  Don’t be surprised if that is the very area that the enemy goes after with the greatest intensity. He wants you to believe his lies so that you feel insecure, inadequate, and step away from your calling.  The warfare surrounding that area is most likely evidence that great favor for your future is hidden there.  Instead of stepping away because of the enemy’s taunts, lean into the Father’s calling, hear His approval, be a man or woman after His heart.

1 Samuel 13:14

“...the LORD has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him ruler of his people..”

1 Samuel 17:26-28

“David asked the men standing near him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?” They repeated to him what they had been saying and told him, “This is what will be done for the man who kills him.” When Eliab, David’s oldest brother, heard him speaking with the men, he burned with anger at him and asked, “Why have you come down here? And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the wilderness? I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is; you came down only to watch the battle.”
